Jesus Christ

Jesus is Lord, Savior, Prophet, High Priest and King. ”

the Holy Spirit
“The Holy Spirit is God who convinces people of sin, righteousness, and judgment. The Holy Spirit leads sinners to salvation in Jesus Christ and baptizes them into the body of Christ. The Holy Spirit indwells, seals, fills and gives various spiritual gifts to believers. ”

Angel
“Angels are spiritual beings created by God, who are given the task of serving and carrying out God’s will, serving and protecting believers, and delivering God’s special message.”

Human
“Humans are the most glorious creations of Allah on earth, created in the image of Allah, holy, with personalities and free will to glorify Allah; man has chosen to violate God’s will, thus becoming sinful and losing the glory of God. ”

Sin

Salvation
“Salvation is the experience of deliverance from sin and eternal death by the grace of God through repentance from sin and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and is eternal. This experience includes forgiveness, new birth, reconciliation, justification, sanctification, acceptance of eternal life, adoption as a child of God, and exaltation, ”

Church
“The church is a divine institution founded by and on the basis of Jesus Christ. The local church is a fellowship of believers who have been baptized, to fellowship, worship, witness, educate, serve and carry out the great church ceremonies, namely baptism and the Lord’s Supper. The Indonesian Baptist Church is autonomous, has a congregational administration, is based on a large family, and is separate from the State. ”

1. The Bible

1.1.
God’s Word: The Bible is the infallible word of God which is a written document consisting of 39 Old Testament books and 27 New Testament books. The Bible is a special revelation of God and His work to humans.

1.2.
Inspired by God: The word “inspired by God” comes from the Greek theopneustos which means to be breathed out by God. Being inspired by God means that God enables those whom He chooses to write the word of God without error.
(Jer. 30: 2; 2 Tim. 3: 16-17; 2 Pet. 1: 19-21)

1.3.
Supreme Authority: The Bible is the final truth as a measure against which faith beliefs and practices of human life are judged.
(Ex. 24: 3-4; Isa. 55: 10-11; Matt. 4: 4, 7)

2. GOD

2.1.
Allah is One: the word one means there is only one God who cannot be divided.
(Deut. 6: 4-5; John 14:11; 1 Cor. 8: 4).

2.2.
Trinity: in the oneness of God there are three persons who are of one nature, equal, and eternal, namely the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each person is completely God. Each person can be distinguished by the kind of work He does.

2.3.
The attributes of Allah: One and eternal God has unique characteristics including omniscience, omnipotence, purity, omniscience, omniscience, all-compassion, all-truth.

3. Jesus Christ

3.1.
The revelation of the Son of God in human form: meaning that Jesus is the Son of God in eternity, came into the world, became the same as man, without sinning.

3.2.
Conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born by the virgin Mary: meaning that in His incarnation, He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and was born by the virgin Mary.

3.3.
Jesus is true God and true man: Jesus is a true God who has the attributes of God. Jesus was a real man because he had human qualities, but was without sin. His divine nature and human nature were perfectly united in His incarnation.

3.4.
Jesus died on the cross for all sinners: meaning that he became the sinner’s ransom sacrifice, and became a substitute for the punishment for sin through his death on the cross.

3.5.
Jesus rose from the dead: meaning that Jesus rose from the dead with a glorified body and had appeared to His disciples. His resurrection overcame death, and death has no more power over Him.

3.6.
Jesus ascended to heaven, seated at the right hand of God the Father: meaning that after His resurrection, He ascended to heaven and now sits forever at the right hand of God the Father as High Priest and Mediator between God and humans. Sitting at the right hand of God the Father means that He has power and glory as true God in heaven and on earth.

3.7.
Jesus will come back to earth to judge the living and the dead: this means that Jesus will come in power and glory to judge the living and the dead and accomplish His mission of salvation.

Jesus is God: meaning that Jesus has power over death and over Satan.

Jesus is the Savior: meaning that Jesus is the only Person who can save mankind from the power of sin and death.

Jesus is a prophet: meaning that Jesus is the mediator of God to humans.

3.11.
Jesus is the High Priest: meaning that Jesus is the mediator of humans before God.

Jesus is King: meaning Jesus is the Ruler who rules as King.

4. The Holy Spirit

4.1.
The Holy Spirit is God: meaning that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity promised by Christ, who came from the Father to continue and apply Christ’s redemptive work among men.

4.2.
The Holy Spirit convinces people of sin: it means that the Holy Spirit creates awareness that the most basic sin is rejecting Jesus as Savior.
(John 16: 8-10)

4.3.
The Holy Spirit convinces people of the truth: it means that the Holy Spirit creates awareness that Jesus is the only Savior.
(John 16:10; 1 Cor 12: 3)

4.4.
The Holy Spirit convinces man of judgment: it means that the Holy Spirit creates awareness in man that the rulers of the world have been punished.
(John 16: 8-11)

4.5.
The Holy Spirit leads to salvation in Jesus Christ: it means that the Holy Spirit guides people to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and leads to new birth.

4.6.
Baptism in the Holy Spirit: Baptists believe that when a person is saved, he or she is simultaneously baptized with the Spirit, namely the Holy Spirit, so that the believer is accounted for or counted as a complete part of the body of Christ. This incident happened once and for all.

4.7.
Indwelling the Holy Spirit: every believer is the abiding place of the Holy Spirit who gives assurance that he belongs to Christ and as a child of God.

4.8.
Filled with the Holy Spirit: is the spiritual experience of a Christian who lives a life of being led and controlled by the Holy Spirit so that he is encouraged to do God’s will in his service and service and to build a closer relationship with God and fellow humans.

4.9.
Seal of the Holy Spirit: When a person believes in Christ, he is also sealed by God as a sign of belonging to God.

Spiritual Gifts: Christ gave His church spiritual gifts to complement the ministry of Christians in building up the body of Christ. 5. Angels, Devils, and Evil Spirits

5.1.
Angels: are heavenly beings created by Allah, who are given the task of serving and carrying out God’s will, serving and protecting believers, and delivering God’s special message.

5.2.
Holy angels: are angels loyal to God, each of whom serves God in a special way, including Gabriel: the bearer of joy to mankind (Matthew 1:20; Luke 1:19, 26), Michael: the heavenly warlord, archangel (Dan 10:13; Jude 9; Isa. 6: 2), Seraphim and Cherubim: trumpet blower (Gen. 3:24; Exod. 25:22; 1 Sam. 4: 4; Ezek. 9: 3; 10: 1).

5.3.
Satan / Satan: is a “fallen archangel” for rebelling against Allah and becoming a “prince of the powers of darkness”.
(Job 1: 6-12; Isa 14:12; Matthew 6:13; John 8:44; Eph. 2: 2; Revelation 12: 9)

5.4.
Evil spirits: are “fallen angels” because they rebelled against God and became followers of Satan / Satan.
(II Pet. 2: 4; Rev. 12: 7)

5.5.
The work of Satan and demons: is against God’s will and causes people to sin (Matthew 13:19; I Peter 5: 8; Revelation 12: 9). Satan and his followers will be punished forever in hell (Rev. 20: 9-10).

6. Humans

6.1.
Allah’s most glorious creation on earth: means that humans are the pinnacle of God’s creation and are created in the image of Allah.
(Ge 1: 26-27, 5: 1-2; Ps 8: 6)

6.2.
Personality: means that humans have free will to make choices between doing good or bad actions and being responsible for their actions.
(Ge 3: 9, Hebrews 4:13)

7. Sin

7.1.
The term “sin”: In the Bible, the term sin is expressed in a variety of terms, which means: not reaching God’s standards (Rom 3: 9,23), rebellion, perversion, transgression (Rom 4:25), ignorance, corruption (Rom. 3:12), unbelief, selfishness, lawlessness (1 John 3: 4), wickedness (Rom 1:29), disobedience (Eph. 2: 1-2), etc. Sin is not limited only to what is visible in the act of action but also includes evil thoughts.

7.2.
The result of sin: sin alienates man from God and separates man from others (Rom. 1: 18-32). Sin brings the wrath of God (Col. 3: 5-6). The result of sin is eternal death (Rom. 6:23).

8. Salvation

8.1.
Experience deliverance from the power of sin and eternal death: is a real experience in a person’s life personally when he believes and accepts Jesus as his Lord and Savior so that he is freed from the power of sin and punishment due to sin.

8.2.
God’s grace: is a free gift from God which is based on the nature of His love for humans who do not deserve it.
(Ac 15:11; Ro 3:24; 5:15; 11: 6; Eph 2: 5, 8-10; Tit 2:11; 3: 7)

8.3.
Repentance from sin: is a personal experience when a person is aware and confesses his sin, asking forgiveness which brings a complete change of life, from living in sin to living in righteousness.

8.4.
Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ: is absolute trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
(Acts 16:31; John 3:16; Eph. 2: 8-9; John 1:12; 5:24; 6:27; Rom 10: 9-10; Eph 1:13)

8.5.
Salvation is eternal: it means that since a person is saved because of his belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, his salvation will not be lost.

8.6.
Forgiveness of sins: is deliverance from the demands of sin based on the work of Christ’s death.

8.7.
New birth: is the gift of new life through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

8.8.
Atonement: is the restoration of man’s relationship with God.
(Ro 5: 1; 2 Cor 5:18; Eph 2:16; Col 1:20; Heb 2:17)

8.9.
Justification: is an act of God in which a person who believes because of his faith in Christ is declared righteous.
(Ro 3: 21-28; 5: 1; 12-19; ​​1 Cor 6:11; 2 Cor 5: 16-21; Gal 2:21; 3:24)

8.10.
Sanctification: is being set apart and set apart for God.

Adoption as a child of God: is a guarantee and the right to inherit the Kingdom of God.

Glorification: people who are saved will be glorified by God.

9. Church

9.1.
Divine institution: means a spiritual organization that comes from God.
(Matthew 16:18; Eph 2:20; 1 Tim 3:15)

9.2.
Established by and on the basis of Jesus Christ: means being formed and built up by Jesus who is the Head of the Church by uniting believers in Himself.
(Mt 16:18; Rom 12: 5; 1 Cor 12:27; Eph 1: 22-23; 5:23; 2:20; Col. 1:18; 2:19; 1 Tim 3:15)

9.3.
The Universal Church: consists of all those who have repented and acknowledged and accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

9.4.
Local Church: a local community of believers who have been baptized and who have voluntarily organized themselves as a church.
(Ac 11:22; 17: 4; 18: 9-11)

9.5.
Church Officials: The Church has two officials namely Pastor and Deacon.
(Ac 6: 1-7; 20: 1, 28; 1 ​​Timothy 3: 1-7; 8-13; Tit 1: 5-9)

9.6.
Worship: is a spiritual experience when humans become aware of the presence of God’s Spirit, acknowledge God’s holiness and His majesty and entrust themselves to His guidance in love and obedience to Him.

9.7.
Testify: reveal what God has done in and through Jesus Christ for the salvation of men.
(Mt 28: 19-20; Ac 1: 8)

9.8.
Fellowship: building relationships with fellow members, encouraging and loving each other as members of God’s family.

9.9.
Educate: To lead people to the knowledge and acceptance of the Christian faith and life, and to train church members to carry out duties and ministries in the church and to direct them to an abundant Christian work and life.

9.10.
Serve: To serve means an effort to meet human needs spiritually and physically.

9.11.
The Great Ceremony of the Church: What is meant by “the great ceremony of the church” are the two ceremonies that the Lord Jesus ordered to perform in His church. The two ceremonies are Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Both ceremonies are symbolic.
(Mt 28:20; Luke 22: 19-20; 1 Cor 11: 23-26)

9.11.1.
Baptism: is a ceremony performed by the church for those who have believed in Jesus as Lord and Savior, carried out by being immersed in water as a symbol of the person’s death and burial against sin and his resurrection to new life in Christ.

9.11.2.
The Lord’s Supper: is a ceremony performed by the church to commemorate the sacrifice and suffering of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord’s Supper is carried out by eating bread which represents the body of Jesus and drinking wine which symbolizes the blood of Jesus.

9.12.
Church order. Church discipline is the act of the church against its members who violate Christian discipline and / or moral life. The main purpose of church order is to awaken and restore the people concerned to repentance for the sake of church fellowship.
(Mt 18: 15-17; 1 Cor 5: 1-13; 2 Cor 2: 5-11; Gal 6: 1)

9.13.
Autonomous: meaning the local church governs itself. The autonomy of the church is based on the belief in the belief of the believers, namely that every believer can relate and be responsible directly without intermediary to God.
(1 Pet 2: 5, 9)

9.14.
Congregational Governance: means that spiritually the church is the body of Christ which is led by the Holy Spirit with Christ as the head of His church; and as an organization, the church governs itself according to God’s leading.
(Eph 4:15; 1:22; 5:23; Ac 13: 2; John 16: 13-14)

9.15.
Collected and tied to one another in the Indonesian Baptist Family, namely the Association of Indonesian Baptist Churches, abbreviated as GGBI: means that the local church which is autonomous and has congregational governance voluntarily cooperates in a united organization for Baptists, namely GGBI which was initiated on April 5, 1973, organized by deliberation and consensus and animated by a spirit of harmony and love with the aim of carrying out joint programs in the fields of evangelism, education, and social endeavors that support church growth and development.

9.16.
The position of the church was separate from the state: meaning that the church and the state were each separate. The church takes care of religious matters and the state takes care of state matters, but the two of them must work together in harmony in the struggle to uphold truth and justice.

10. Final Matters

10.1.
The return of Jesus: is an event when Jesus comes the second time according to His promise.
(Mt 25: 31-32; 26:64; Luke 12:40; Acts 1:11; 1 Timothy 4: 1; Heb 9:28; Jude 1: 14-15)

10.2.
Resurrection: is an event when everyone who has died is brought back to life from the dead. The Bible teaches a bodily resurrection. The foundation of Christian faith and hope in the New Testament is the resurrection of Christ which guarantees the resurrection of Christians. This hope is expressed as confidence in the resurrection of the body after death.

10.3.
The Final Judgment: is the event when everyone stands before the throne of Allah’s judgment.

10.4.
Rapture: is an event when believers who have died and who are still alive are caught up to meet Jesus Christ.
(Mt 24:31; 1 Thess 4:16)

10.5.
Heaven: is the dwelling place of God, which Christ provides for the believer, who is filled with eternal joy, and there is no sin in it.

Hell: is a place for Satan and his followers as well as those who reject the love and salvation of God through the Lord Jesus Christ, to experience eternal punishment which is described as a lake of fire and brimstone.
